Hello My Sweet Friends!
Today I wanted to talk about a very popular "cookie trend" that's been going around... that people are obsessing about: The Len and Larry's Complete Cookies.
If you have not tried one of these cookies you are seriously missing out as they are seriously delicious. But are they truly that good for you??
Well, first of all the packaging is deceiving considering in big print they put "16 grams of protein" and then in small print they write "per cookie" but when you flip over to the nutrition facts label you will see a serving is HALF a cookie. Who eats half a cookie!? I know. Its a true bummer. So what if you eat only half of the cookie, or one serving?

Well, looking at the nutrition facts for the peanut butter cookie we find the macros are:

7 grams Fat, 27 grams Carbs, and 8 grams Protein, (4 grams of Fiber)
So, its not that bad...
However if you eat the whole cookie you are getting 400 calories worth of 14 grams of fat, 54 grams of carbs, and 16 grams of protein (8 grams of fiber). Which is makes it not the most macro-friendly treat, especially if you are in a cut.
Ok, so let's move on and take a closer look. Some of things these cookies are claim are: vegan, dairy free, egg free, soy free, non-GMO, no artificial sweeteners, no sugar alcohols, and no palm oil.
Being someone who is lactose-sensitive I love that these are dairy-free. But I am also sensitive to soy which is found in almost EVERYTHING- another plus to these cookies. They are also non-GMO which is another plus, so they are not Franken-cookies. And there are NO artificial sweeteners, yay! However... there is 24 grams of sugar for the whole cookie which is pretty high.
Ok, so what goes into these cookies to make them so yummy? If we take a look at the ingredient list we find that it is pretty lengthy but the ingredients are pretty clean. Which brings me to another point, these protein cookies in comparison to other protein cookies, earn a A-rating as other brands use some pretty crazy ingredients. Not to mention, other brands of protein cookies are pretty unappetizing as they have a waxy texture. Waxy? Yes, waxy. Len and Larry's are very fluffy and moist.

Alright, so let's look at the price. At my HEB, these cookies are 2 for $3, or $1.50 a piece, which I would argue is very inexpensive in comparison to a normal cookie you would get from the bakery of a grocery store or bakery in general.
So, after looking at all these different viewpoints are the Len and Larry's Complete Cookies good or bad? As you can see there are pros and cons to these cookies, just like everything else- but overall there are more pros than cons. I believe these are totally fine to have in MODERATION but NOT every day- which seems to be habit for most. Would I rather you eat this over a normal cookie? Absolutely. If you are craving a cookie this would be a much better option.
That's all folks. Let me know if you would like to see more posts like this one. Have a wonderful day :)
