The Hardest Part is Getting There!

Good Morning My Sweet Friends,

I hope you all had a wonderful Fourth of July!
Today I wanted to address something that I hear on the daily from all walks of life.
“I don’t have time to go to the gym!”
I get it. We are all extremely busy. It seems like there are never enough hours in the day to do all the things that we would like to. But here’s the thing, an economic concept actually, we will always have unlimited wants but we only have limited resources. One of our resources is time.
I am a firm believer that you make time for the things that are most important to you. I know that in my heart when I say that I don’t have time for something, what I really mean is it is not one of my priorities at the moment. And that’s ok. We all have priorities in life and as things come your way your priorities may change and that is also ok. But why should going to the gym not be one of them? Or really any form of exercise? When you take the time to exercise you are not only doing it for your well-being but those you love. Why? Well, a healthier and happier you means that you are a better version of yourself for the ones you love. If you are a parent I know you want to be the best version of yourself for your kids.
But regardless, why aren’t you doing this for you? YOU matter. You deserve the absolute best. Afterall, if you can’t take care of yourself who else are you going to be able to care for?
The hardest part of going to the gym is getting there. Here is what I tell our members when they lack motivation to get to our gym, “Tell yourself, 5 minutes. For 5 minutes you will go to the gym and if after 5 minutes you hate it and you want to go home you can. But here’s the kicker, you won’t feel like leaving after 5 minutes. Because you will be reminded of how good it feels to do this.” Think about it, have you ever left the gym feeling worse? I doubt it. Sore today or sorry tomorrow! Right?
For many, including myself, you need to schedule going to the gym. Literally. Schedule it like a meeting or appointment you can’t miss. You need to make it that important because it is that important. Your health matters! Even if it is just 30 minutes that is better than nothing. No, you do not have to get up at 5 in the morning to hit the gym. You do whatever works best for you and/or when you can fit it in. If you like working out in the morning, great! But if you feel like you have a better workout late at night, that’s ok too! Working out in the morning versus at night is NOT going to make your progress any better or worse, I promise :).
I know just “scheduling it” sounds easier said than done but I bet you once you make the time you will have the time! If I can do it, anyone can do it! I go to school more than full-time, am a part of 5 different organizations, work part-time (sometimes more), run a blog, meal prep, and maintain a 4.0 GPA with going to the gym 6 days a week you can too!
That’s all I have for now loves. I hope this inspired you in some way. Remember excuses don’t burn calories. You’ve got this! I believe in you!
